Mentoring Program
The purpose of the United & Mutually Equal Connections Mentoring Program at Western New England College is to build lasting relationships between incoming underrepresented students and upper class students who are members of U&ME, as well as help their transition into the college community. This program was created with the belief that personal relationships foster a sense of belonging and community, so that incoming freshmen will enjoy the experience of having a connection with someone who is able to integrate them into college life, and someone who may have had a shared experience. This connection will enrich their college experience so that they remain at Western New England College for their entire four years.
Mentors along with Peer Advisors are there to help the mentees in any way they can, as a referral source, a friend, or a college connection. Therefore when mentees return for their second year it will be a more comfortable transition because they will already be incorporated into the campus community with the help from their mentors and peer advisors as a support system.
